TWO PIECES FOR TWO GUITARS by Steve Marsh

Two guitars
Moderately difficult

Homage to Paco de Lucia was written for the Alfonso Montes/Irina Kircher guitar duo who recorded it on their 1994 CD release 'El Cielo que Esta'. Although the flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia is often associated with virtuosic fast guitar work, this is a slow and lyrical composition which tries to evoke the deep emotion behind flamenco music.

Clumber Park is an area of outstanding beauty owned now by the National Trust and is one of my favourite places on earth. Clumber Rain is in three distinct parts linked together, beginning with a massive arpeggio section representing a heavy downfall of rain. This is followed by a calmer section with the rain subsiding and finally a splendidly melodic finale as the rainbow appears. This work was written for the Eastwood/Kilvington guitar duo who gave the first performance at the Bolivar Hall, London.

Recorded by the Adam Khan/Luis E. Orias Diz Duo on their cd Interludio

"A nice pair of interesting pieces, the second harder than the first, which would make a nice contrast for a moderately advanced duo" - Classical Guitar Magazine
